About Handi-Lift
Serving Northwest Wisconsin Since 1977
Handi-Lift provides non-emergency medical transportation for individuals who need a dependable ride, including passengers who use wheelchairs, walkers, or canes.
Based in Barron, Wisconsin, we work with passengers, families, caregivers, healthcare facilities, and transportation programs throughout Northwest Wisconsin. Whether transportation is needed for a routine appointment, dialysis, rehabilitation, or a hospital discharge, our team helps coordinate the trip with care and respect.

Handi-Lift has served the region since 1977. In April 2022, Bryce and Amanda Johnson purchased the company, becoming its fourth owners and continuing its tradition of helping people access transportation.
As a family-owned business, we value the relationships we build with our passengers and the organizations we serve. We understand that transportation is an important part of someone's day, and we strive to make each ride a comfortable, respectful experience.

Our Vehicles
Our fleet consists of rear-entry wheelchair-accessible minivans that accommodate both passengers who use wheelchairs and passengers who can walk independently or with assistance.
Our vehicles feature:
- Rear-entry ramps for wheelchair access.
- Four-point wheelchair securement systems.
- Passenger lap-and-shoulder safety belts.
- Heating and air conditioning.
- GPS tracking through our dispatch software.
We maintain our vehicles and carry commercial auto and general liability insurance.

Our Drivers & Passenger Assistance
Our drivers complete background checks and training in defensive driving, passenger assistance, and wheelchair securement. They also hold current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Drivers assist with boarding, exiting the vehicle, and securing mobility equipment. When needed, they can escort passengers to the appointment check-in area.
Drivers do not provide medical care, manual lifting, or physical transfers between beds, chairs, and wheelchairs. Any required transfer assistance must be arranged with a caregiver or facility staff.

Regional and long-distance transportation may also be arranged with advance notice, subject to availability.
